EXEDY participated and ran a booth at the 7th Osaka Motor Show, held at the Intex Osaka, Suminoe, Osaka from Jan. 20, 2012 to Jan. 23, 2012, which was first time and total visitor for the show was over 300 thousand in this time.

We exhibited the Lock-Up Torque Convertor as a new product for low fuel consumption and various racing clutches, which were really “Eye Catching” for many visitors. Also, we invited 2 racing drivers, Mr. Tetsuya Yamano, a driver for All Japan Gymkhana and Super GT and Ms. Ai Miura, a driver for Super-FJ, and we organize autograph session for many fans of motor sports.

The 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon was held from January 13th – 15th at the Makuhari Messe where the exciting three day event brought over 250 thousand visitors.

At this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, we released the newly developed HYPER SINGLE VF which drew many interested people to see our new racing clutch series. The second place finishing MotoGP 2011 Yamaha Factory Racing Team bike as well as the 2011 D1 Grand Prix participated EXEDY R Magic Pink #6 were all on display at our booth that brought many fans of both two wheeled and 4 wheeled motor sports.

Many people participated and had fun in our Lucky Draw that we held on the 14th and on the 15th and we hope that more people can join us at our future shows and events!

EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL (Thailand) received a commendation in regards to AIDS and tuberculosis prevention activities.

EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL (EFM) has received recognition in the form of a platinum commendation in regards to their AIDS and tuberculosis prevention activities. Only seven other companies in Chonburi have received this platinum award.

The award reception was held on December 1st 2011 at the Queen Sawang Wadhana Memorial Hospital where the hospital’s director Mr. Emeritus Chaivej Nuchprayoon had given EFM the commendation.

EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL was recognized for implementing preventive measures of AIDS and tuberculosis that highlights how EFM values the health and safety of employees as a top priority. EFM will continue to improve and further enhance the health and conditions of employees through future activities.

From December 2nd - 9th, 2011, EXEDY Friction Material (EFM) launched a safety week to boost staff’s motivation on building a safe workplace. This year’s safety week included a number of interesting activities such as a safety slogan competition, information displays and hands-on learning stations where staff could experience and learn more about safety, health and energy-saving practices. Ms.Chamaiporn Sintuprasit, the Director of Problem Solving and Prevention on Labour Protection Group, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, thanked the staff for their participation in safety activities conducted on that day.

The Director also praised EFM for succeeding 5 million hours of accident-free operation.

EFM will continue to improve and further enhance the safety awareness and training of staff through more activities in the future.

EXEDY exhibited at the 42nd annual Tokyo Motor Show of 2011 that was held from December 3rd until the 11th at the Tokyo Big Site location.

At this event we displayed items such as our Low Speed Lock-up Torque Converter, an item that specializes in transferring energy through minimal input. In regards to automatic transmissions, our popular torque converter model that allows viewers to hand-operate the momentum of the assembly is a fun and easy way to understand how it operates. Our Clutch Pedal Effort Simulator held our Light Pedal Effort Clutch (L-PEC) and one of our sports clutches on display for people to feel the pedal feedback of some of our most popular items.

As Thailand continues to battle through the flooded areas within the country, EXEDY has donated 1 million bahts in order to help with the relief and rebuilding of those people effected from the heavy rains. On October 20th, 2011, at the Don Muang Airport, governor Surapon gladly accepted EXEDY’s charity at the airport’s emergency flood refuge center.

In addition, our group company EXEDY Thailand as well as EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL Company has not been affected by the floods.

Heavy rains brought flooding to the center of Thailand on October 11th 2011. EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL (EFM) called its staff to action to help assemble and distribute care packages to those in need.

As Thailand battled through heavy rains last week, the floods in the Saraburi area have reportedly left over 800 homes under water and many people without food and other necessities. Workers gathered items to disperse among the people in need by going to shelters as well as cutting through flooded roads to reach two secluded towns that were running low on supplies.

While flooded fields and roads kept people from getting supplies, flooded homes forced families to move to the second floor of their houses in order to avoid the raising waters. The employees of EXEDY were the first to respond with the gathering of goods and supplies to the people in need within the villages. Tears of thanks and joy were shed from givers and receivers as both sides were happy to give and receive help in the difficult time.

EXEDY participated in China Auto Salon 2011 from October 5th-7th in the city of Shanghai.

Being the first event of its kind in China that was made up of 84 companies (11 Japanese companies) representing all aspects of car tuning and modification parts and accessories. Our line-up of racing clutched captured the eyes of many as well as our darts game that gave all participants a chance and taking home some EXEDY merchandise.

EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL opened its new tribology technical center on September 1st 2011.

At the opening ceremony, the Chonburi Ministry of Labor along with the construction workers of the building attended the event at the Amata Industrial Park.
EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL president Mr. Goto gave his thoughts about the opening of the tribology center in an announcement. "The building may not be very large but the future use and benefits of the things that will be had from the tribology center will be great in size. From now on, all the workers together can work harder at becoming number one world-wide."

The EFM group has two expectations for the tribology center. The first is that the skill level of the EFM employees will increase and secondly, that the research and development done in country of Thailand at the EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL plant will build a reputation for itself through continual production of quality products.

The building consists of Research and Development on the 1st floor, a large cafeteria on the 2nd floor and training, meeting rooms as well as a library on the 3rd floor. The roof will be completely covered with solar panels by the end of September.

The EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL company is continuing to work hard toward providing its customers with complete satisfaction through highly skilled development and production.

On September 5th 2011 at the EXEDY headquarters (Neyagawa Osaka), we celebrated the progress of the ongoing construction of the new head quarters building. When the new headquarters is completed, the 11 story structure will have the spacious area of 12500 meters, being one of the tallest buildings in the Neyagawa area. Employees globally are looking forward to being a part in the new center of the EXEDY group as construction is scheduled to be completed in March of 2012.

MotoGP Round 13, YAMAHA FACTORY RACING Jorge Lorenzo Makes His Third Win!

Round 13 of Moto GP was held on Spetember 4th at the Misano circuit where EXEDY supported YAMAHA FACTORY RACING rider, Jorge Lorenzo, dominated the track from start to finish to make his third win this series. Starting from the second position, Lorenzo had taken the lead charging into the first corner where he continued to build an untouchable pace between the other riders. On the 10th lap he had built a gap of 7 seconds between himself and second place as a result of the hard work of his pit crew and flawless riding. Teammate Ben Spies had placed 6th in the race.

EXEDY Friction Material celebrates 3 million hours of operation without accidents and injury by being recognized by an award from the Thailand national labor committee. At the August 10th 2011 award ceremony at the Amari Hotel, the EXEDY group company was one of only 85 companies throughout all of Thailand to have successfully surpassed 3 million hours of accident-free hours of operation and receive recognition with a beautiful trophy from the vice president of the national labor committee. This award of safe operation joins the recognition that was also given on July 20th, 2011 to the EXEDY Friction Material company that evaluated the practice of safety, health and environmental activities. The EXEDY Frictional Material company will from now on work hard at operating for 10 million hours within a safe and accident-free work environment.

The ceremony was held on July 20th, 201 in Thailand’s Prachinburi prefecture Tawaravadee Hotel where out of Thailand’s 7 eastern prefectures 60 companies received the public acknowledgment. This year, the affiliate company in Chonburi had been visited by the Chonburi Department of Labor Director-General Amphorn who had also presented them with the award. The Director-General Amphorn had mentioned that as Chonburi is Thailand’s largest industrial area, she wants all companies to continue to lead through good example through the future. EXEDY FRICTION MATERIAL has now won this award for two years in a row and plans to extend their success in safety for years to come.

The 8th round of MotoGP was held on July 3rd 2011 at Italy’s Mugello circuit where the EXEDY supported YAMAHA FACTORY RACING team’s Jorge Lorenzo had taken his second win of the 2011 season. In round 7 the YAMAHA FACTORY RACING team’s Ben Spies took first place as his teammate Jorge Lorenzo showed an outstanding performance in round 8 and came through with the second consecutive win for the team. Lorenzo had started from 5th place but by the first corner of the first lap he had jumped up to second position and was focused on taking the lead. After making consecutive flawless laps, the Mallorcan had taken over first place and began to gradually distance himself from the other riders until reaching the checkered flag. Teammate Ben Spies finished with a near podium finish in 4th position.

The EXEDY supported YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM’s rider Ben Spies had taken his first win in MotoGP on June 26th 2011 at the 7th round, Assens. As the YAMAHA FACTORY RACING team showed celebration of their 50th anniversary by changing the color’s on their bikes, Ben Spies delivered a spot-on performance all weekend for the team. Just missing the pole position by .009 seconds, Spies started from the number two position but quickly gained the lead in the first corner and remained untouched for the remainder of the race finishing 7 seconds before the second place rider. Teammate Jorge Lorenzo had crossed the checkered flag in 6th place.

MotoGP Rd.5 - Lorenzo and Spies Deliver a Double Podium Finish at the Catalunya GP!

The EXEDY supported YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM pulled through with a double podium finish, taking the second and third place podiums at the Catalunya GP on June 5th 2011. With Jorge Lorenzo in second place and teammate Ben Spies in third, the two made their first pair podium finish at Lorenzo’s home circuit of Catalunya. Qualified in at 3rd, Jorge Lorenzo shot up into second by the end of the opening lap and kept his position until the checkered flag. Ben Spies made his way from 4th to 3rd within the first lap and followed the footsteps of his teammate and kept his position to make his first podium finish with the team. Please join us in supporting the YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM in Round 6 which will be held on June 12th at England’s Silverstone Circuit.

EXEDY participated in the 2011 Automotive Engineering Exposition from May 18th until the 20th at the Shinagawa Pacifico located in Yokohama. Many came by and visited the EXEDY booth to see world premiering DCT twin clutch for commercial use as well as see other developments on display. Another attention grabber was our newly designed clutch that allows the transfer of high torque while keeping a relatively low amount of effort to be used by the driver to press the pedal. This clutch cover is what we call our L-PEC, which stands for Light Pedal Effort Cover. In order to give the people a chance to experience our clutch pedal feeling, we had set up a clutch simulator that compared our L-PEC to a standard conventional clutch. Here the observer could see the difference of pedal effort between the two clutches. Thank you to all who attended the show and visited our EXEDY booth.

Thanks to all of those who came out to enjoy the EXEDY CUP OPTION2 SP Stage Endurance Race and support the Tohoku disaster relief charity event that was held on April 16th at the Hyogo prefecture Central Circuit. To show support to the victims of the earthquake, sales of all merchandise sold at the event accompanied the Japan Red Cross donation box that was at the circuit. On April 14, 2011, EXEDY had won the "Special Quality Award" and an award for "Continuous Excellence in Quality" award at the DAIHATSU MOTOR CO. LTD general supplier meeting of the fiscal year of 2010. Out of 258 companies, only one company, EXEDY, received the quality awards. This award represents how highly our quality management is evaluated. As a result, our company is now the recipient of Daihatsu’s quality award for 11 years in a row, a routine in achievement we are happy to celebrate at EXEDY. First graduation ceremony at internal kindergarten “A Kiddyland”

There was the first graduation ceremony on Mar. 30th, 2010, at the Kiddyland, which is Exedy internal kindergarten established on Oct. 2008. All 23 kids, teachers and guests are warmly sending a first graduate off. A graduate was given memorable gift from EXEDY and, there was very impressive moment that a leaving kid handed over the gift to his mother, said with lovely voice “Thanks”.

On Mar. 31st, 2011, We received a letter of appreciation to corporative painting work on crossover bridge located in front of our Neyagawa Head quarters and sponsorship to its naming rights organized by the prefectural government. This painting work had started from Nov. 2010 and the crossover bridge looks nicer like “re-born” and all kids neighborhood are really welcome to see and use the beautiful crossover bridge. Also, we obtain the naming rights of the bridge, which was named “EXEDY-KIDA CROSSOVER BRIDGE”. This is a part of social contribution and we respect and keen on participating local activity.

EXEDY has just established a new company for the physically-challenged employees, “EXEDY Sun Co. Ltd” at the site with 1,283 square meters next to Neyagawa Headquarters. The opening ceremony was held on Mar. 29th, 2011 and many guests including Neyagawa city mayor were attended to the ceremony, at which many congratulatory addresses and messages were received. At the opening race held in Qatar, Middle East, all the Japanese teams put a message of "Hang In, Japan!" on their machines to offer prayers for the victims of the recent earthquake in Japan. We deeply feel sorry for the victims of the earthquake in East Japan.The EXEDY group companies including the Dynax group companies have decided a donation of 10 Million yen to the victims and local societies suffered from the earthquake in East Japan.Our Kawagoe Plant in Saitama Prefecture also got some minor damage, though, our employees are all safe and currently we are reconfirming of the safety for their family and relatives.We do hope all casualties get recovered quickly and we wish all people in East Japan to get back normal life as soon as possible.

As part of EXEDY 60th anniversary projects, we donated 3 solar street lightings to the 3 elementary and junior high schools in the neighborhood on Mar. 9th, and we granted a letter of appreciation from the Neyagawa City. The street lightings harness solar power so it is Zero emission of CO2 and electrical output can be observed visually. As part of environmental education, we hope all students in the schools will pay much more attention to environmental activity in the future.

In 2010, we supported to FIAT YAMAHA TEAM and we could successfully show our capability and high technology to the world as a result of YAMAHA’s Triple Crown, Rider, Team and Constructors 3 years successively.YAMAHA Team has changed organization in 2011 and they start the new season as YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM, including 2010 champion Mr. J. Lorenzo and a new rider Mr. B. Spies, the 6th in 2010 series ranking. The YAMAHA Team is ready for opening race on Mar. 20th.EXEDY support YAMAHA for the MotoGP 2011 season continuously and we will supply the clutches to YAMAHA.
