Torque converter production reaches 100 million units!
We at EXEDY Group have succeeded in producing 100 million units of our torque converters for use in automatic transmission (AT) vehicles.
To celebrate this, a ceremony entitled A Total of 100 Million Torque Converters Produced was held on May 14th, 2014, at the production line of our Ueno Plant in Mie Prefecture, which is one of our major domestic production bases.
In 1958, our company set its sights on expanding into AT vehicles and began its development of torque converters. In 1973, we began the mass production of torque converters for use in automobiles. Currently, with six production facilities in five countries, we are producing about 8,500,000 units per year, and our parts for AT vehicles, including torque converters, make up over 60% of our consolidated sales.
